Ramadhan Rhymes
Assalamualaikum and hi there, new age parents!
Let’s make learning about Ramadhan a happy family time with our children! It is no secret that young children learn best when they are having fun. Fill their hearts with light, happy reading, singing and laughter and you’ve got yourself the best opportunity to slip in some fundamental Ramadhan values!
“But rhymes? How will they help my child?”
Reading nursery rhymes is one of the essential learning methods that could help your child develop their early language skills, and it is something that YOU could do anywhere — in the comfort of your home, in the car, at the dinner table, in the cereal section of your neighbourhood supermarket… you name it!
The best part? You could use them with your child no matter how young they are! It’s true, your child’s development takes place WAY before they enter school. It is incredible just how much these seemingly “simple” (and do-able) nursery rhymes can help your child to:
- Develop communication skills – they pick up vocabulary or numeracy through the simple verses
- Enhance their physical development – the rhythm and movement help them to nurture a better sense of balance and overall full-body coordination
- Nurture their emotional intelligence – the happiness and bonding when playing and reading the rhymes are just amazing, and that also leads to a positive attitude towards learning (which will do wonders in helping them adapt to learning in school, in shaa Allah)
- Develop language and literacy skills – the rhymes are a child’s first experience playing with words
- Develop cognitive skills – the rhymes help them to improve memory, concentration, spatial intelligence, and thinking skills
Here are some special Ramadhan Rhymes—tweaked from well-loved nursery rhymes by our very own alumni students! We hope that they will help your child to learn how to love Ramadhan and feel excited about learning all there is to know about this beautiful month!

Before the Fajr morning.
This is the way we take Wudhu,
We take Wudhu; we take Wudhu.

On a fresh Fajr morning.

I love to go,
For if I do
My mother will say…

Did you make Du’a today,
Fasting all the way,
Down by the bay…
(Repeat the Main)
Did you give Zakat,
It’s charity all right,
Down the by the bay…
(Repeat the Main)
Did you say good words,
To anyone who heard,
Down by the bay…
(Repeat Main)
